Our Second Annual General Meeting will take place at 7.00 on Thursday 13th June. Work on the redevelopment of the library may have started by then, so we have arranged an alternative nearby venue, at the Pavilion in Alexandra Park , next to the bowling greens. Please join us.
The formal part of the meeting is likely to take about 30 minutes and you will then have an opportunity to meet informally and share some refreshments with other members and the SWISH Committee.
With the changes to the library, there will be opportunities for new events and activities and we would like to hear your views and to encourage more people to get involved. This does not necessarily mean joining the Committee (although we would welcome new Committee members) but simply contributing new ideas or providing practical help at events.
There will be some vacant positions on the SWISH Friends Committee at the AGM, so if you would like to join us please contact Peter (details on the back page).
Why not join the SWISH Committee ?
We now have a stable and enthusiastic Committee and we are looking forward to the new opportunities that the redeveloped library will bring . We are, however keen to bring-in active members prepared to contribute new ideas and offer different skills. Why not join the SWISH Friends Committee and help us to make a positive difference for our local Library and community!
Although the library is now relatively secure for the short term, the demands on local authority resources have not changed. Libraries will continue to need to justify their place in the community among many competing demands. At a time that library book loans are on a decline nationally, we need to help ensure that library services are supported and continue to remain a valued and well used service.
If you are interested in talking about becoming more involved please contact the SWISH chair, Peter Lewenz at firstname.lastname@example.org or on 07510230843.
